Welcome to 5th Grade!
Hello! My name is Whitney Perkins and I am the 5th grade teacher at St. Francis de Sales. This will be my 9th year of teaching! I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade at Oscoda Area Schools, as well as, 6th grade and 3-6 grade math intervention at Newberry Elementary School. I received my teaching degree from Saginaw Valley State University, which included a major in elementary education, minors in math and language arts, and an endorsement in early childhood education.
Teaching is my passion and I believe learning should be adventurous! It is my mission to teach with enthusiasm so that my students continue their desire to be lifelong learners. I have faith that students who are believed in and challenged on a daily basis will step up and reach beyond their limits! I know each student will share their brilliance when they are happy and learn how to overcome mistakes! I grew up in Gladwin and went to college at Saginaw Valley State University. I married my best friend, and we have 2 beautiful daughters! Constance is almost 5 years old and Kathleen is 3 years old. My husband and I spent 4 years in the U.P. which we absolutely cherished! We then moved to the Glennie area to be closer to our families a few years ago. We loved the U.P. so much, we had to come back! Mr. Perkins and I enjoy taking motorcycle rides and making yard improvements. I love seeing our girls learn something new every day, trying to recreate Pinterest finds, kayaking, walking, and trying new recipes (especially with my lil’ helpers in the kitchen!) I am so excited to begin a new year of adventure with each of my students! This year will be loaded with learning, fun and memories! |
