Mrs. Lisa Marie Burnis PrincipalHello, my name is Lisa Marie Burnis. I hold a degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. I earned my first bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Human Nutrition and Food Science, with minors in Math, Psychology, Business Management, and Communications. With over a decade of teaching experience in Michigan, I began my career at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Brighton, where I loved teaching second grade. During my time there, I was actively involved in sacrament preparation for second graders, the School Advisory Council, and the Whole Family Committee. I was honored to be recognized as Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 academic year. In 2020, I joined St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, where I taught middle school religion and sixth grade before transitioning into school leadership halfway through my second year. I am now beginning my third year as Principal at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, where I will continue to prioritize academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a supportive school community. I hold an Advanced Catechist Certification and an Echoing the Mystery Certification from the Diocese of Lansing, and I am also certified in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). I have received training in Mental Health First Aid, De-escalation, and Crisis Response. Before my career in education, I built a successful career as a district manager for a large food service company before choosing to focus on raising my family. During this time, I remained deeply involved in my community, particularly through Catholic ministries and educational initiatives. This year, I will focus on bringing all students to high levels of achievement by maintaining our Classical Curriculum. By staying committed to our mission, I will offer students the opportunity to develop a closer relationship with God. Providing a safe and productive learning environment for all students is a top priority for me, supported by the Diocese’s new Virtus program, “Empowering God’s Children,” and a new Theology of the Body series, “The Body Matters.” St. Francis de Sales holds a special place in our family’s history. My husband’s father, Buck, attended St. Francis, followed by all four of his sons and two of his grandsons. This school is truly valued by our family. My husband and I also love traveling across the United States to visit our five children and our beloved grandlove, Eli. With each of our kids living in different states, every trip is an adventure. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our students by the Lord’s example, emphasizing faith, fortitude, integrity, patience, prudence, and obedience. This year promises to be an amazing one for our families at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School. |
I'm Janet Knaffla and my career for the past twenty years has been as the owner of an environmental consulting business that focuses on all environmental aspects in building transmission lines throughout the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. I hold a Bachelor's in Science with a Major in Biology from Northern Michigan University. I settled in Manistique in 2015 to focus on family and education. My love of St Francis de Sales began when my two daughters started school in Pre-K3 and Kindergarten. I was involved with the school through many functions and was the PTO president from 2018 to 2019.
Hi! My name is Lindsay Fausett and I moved to Manistique in 2018 when my husband and I purchased the local funeral home. Before moving here, I worked for Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, MI as an athletic trainer in orthopedics. I hold a Bachelor's in Science with a major in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University. I decided to stay home with my 3 daughters after moving to Manistique and now with all of them in school at St. Francis, I am thrilled to be part of the St. Francis family as both an employee and a parishioner.
