7th and 8th GradesMy name is Jenny VanDyck. I am a new teacher this year. However, I come from a long line of experience. With five children of my own (two adopted from Ukraine), I have plenty of experience with students of all ages and skill levels. My adopted daughter uses American Sign Language; therefore, I will use simple ASL words to help in communication as opposed to interrupting class for bathroom breaks and water requests. This way we have minimal loss of student work in the classroom. I have spent time as an Emergency Medical Technician, Crisis Prevention Institution for Behavior Intervention (CPI), and a Substitute Teacher for all grade levels in Delta/Schoolcraft ISD. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with minors in Crisis Counseling and Military Resilience. With this degree, I have aided in Substance Abuse Counseling and Suicide Prevention. Mindfulness is a large part of my classroom. I want to set the students up for success. Being a catechist at St. Francis de Sales, I can help our students understand the importance of having a relationship with God. Together we will walk with them on their faith journey and share with them the “Good News” of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I intend to set my students up for success, especially since they will be going to high school next year. I will be using technology a little more in my classroom. This will make it easier for the students to learn the high school routines regarding the use of Chromebooks and other technology resources. I am pleased to have such wonderful students in my first classroom! |
