Over the past few months the 7th and 8th grade students at St. Francis de Sales School have been creating career portfolios. The students have taken skills assessments, interest surveys, and career assessments. They have also learned about the values most employers want in an employee and have worked to set future career goals. With these career portfolios in mind, the 7th and 8th grade students at St. Francis de Sales recently visited local businesses in order to experience what they have been learning for the past few months. The students visited The Downtowner to learn more about the restaurant industry, listened to a presentation at Community Home Medical, learned valuable small business start-up tips at Studio 906, and toured Online Engineering. All of these visits have greatly assisted each student in the continuation of their career portfolios. The students would like to extend a huge thank you to each business for allowing the group to visit and learn more about what local businesses have to offer.
